Simple Happy Life – 1 September 2018

Do you like starry skies? Peace and quiet? To be surrounded by nature? The smell of woodsmoke hanging in the air? Then I have just the place for you 😉 We first discovered @wldnorthumbrian about 4-5 years ago via their poetic tweets and since then have stayed nine times, becoming friends with Rob & Vicky the owners and even becoming their brand and marketing agency! It’s very hard to articulate just how special and magical the place is, a small collection of yurts and huts, nestled in a spectacular part of Northumberland, in parts pretty and dappled, in others dramatic and windswept. This time we stayed in the amazing new treehouse yurt, Houlet (old English word for owl) and it was amazing. Up in the trees with the birds and the squirrels! It’s all off grid (though there are heated shower & kitchen blocks to use) and so there is no electricity in your yurt or hut, no WiFi, no phone signal even. You get water from a stand pipe, heating and cooking from your wood burning stove and fire pit and as the sun goes down and the stars come out, you light your way with candles…. it’s quiet as with only a handful of yurts and huts all spaced away from one another, you don’t often see others and mainly what you hear is the wind in the trees, birds, lowing cows in nearby fields and the gentle putter of your stove or a guttering candle. It’s heaven. And we already have our next stay booked in…. #northumberland #wildnorthumbria #offgrid #gloomandglow #simplethings #perfectgetaway #autumnbreak #yurtlife #yurtliving #smallbusinessowner
